If my cup is full then…

10 Jul

If my cup is overflowing, if I am full, if I am already complete then…

I do not need to ask anyone for a ‘top up’,
I do not need to ask for acceptance if I accept myself,
I do not need anyone to tell me that I’m okay, if I already trust that I am.

If my cup is overflowing, if I love and accept myself, exactly as I am, with all my flaws and imperfections, with all my good qualities, with all my mistakes, with all my triumphs then…

I free myself,
I free myself from self-criticism and hate,
I free myself from guilt,
I free myself from shame.

If my cup is overflowing, if I am so full of love for myself, then…

I have more than enough love to share,
I can be generous and not stash love like a squirrel,
I can trust that there will always be more, that life is abundant,
I can give and receive love freely.

If my cup is overflowing, and I feel truly happy then…

I can share my happiness with all those around me,
I can be like a ray of sunshine on a cold winters day,
I can light up a room, and warm a lonely day,
I can be radiant.

May my cup be overflowing, may I be a gift to this world and to myself.

Thank you Universe.

Are you your own worst enemy?

6 Jul

“I just don’t understand it,” she said pointing to the withering little lavender plant at the bottom of her garden, “When I bought it, I had visions of it growing into one of those big bushy plants that wafts delicious fragrances across the garden.  It doesn’t make sense.  I’ve planted it in the right soil, made sure it’s not too dark or too sunny and yet every day when I water it, it withers even more.”

“Well, what are you watering it with then?  Are you using some kind of fertiliser in the water?” her friend asked.

“Water?” she replied, “No, I give it this,” and she held out a container of vinegar.

Her friend laughed.  “Vinegar?  Are you crazy?  What on earth can you expect, if you’re watering it with vinegar!  For goodness sake June, I know you’re scatty but that is taking it too far.  No wonder the poor thing is dying!”

It does sound a little crazy doesn’t it?  Who in their right mind would do that?  A plant needs water to thrive, not vinegar.  And yet, so often we can do this to ourselves by thinking and feeling in ways that hamper or own ability to thrive.  The thoughts we think can sometimes be as toxic to us as vinegar is to a plant.

Negative thoughts about our self, our friends, our family, our partners, our life situation can be so damaging and lead towards creating more unhappiness.

This little girl in the video was about five years old at the time it was filmed.  She could teach us all a good lesson.  Appreciate your life and all the people and things in it and life will seem instantly brighter and happier.  Jessica’s daily affirmation.

List 10 things that are great about you

26 Jun

Sometimes I hear people say how ‘no good’ they are or how ‘useless’ they are and it makes me feel so sad.

Every one has value and it’s a real shame that no-one has told them that.  Or they haven’t been told enough.

I think it was Mother Theresa that said: “There is more hunger for love and appreciation today, than there is for food”.

So with that in mind…

If you are inclined…

Why not write yourself a list of 10 things about you that are GREAT.  If no-one is cheering for you in your corner, then be your own cheerleader.  Love is one of the most important things in life and it starts with yourself.

So please take a moment to appreciate the person that you are.  Starting from now!

Want to read my list (to get some inspiration)?  Okay.

  1. When I smile at a stranger I know it cheers them up.
  2. I’m good at encouraging people.
  3. I admit when I’m wrong.
  4. I can keep a secret.
  5. I’ve grown from my mistakes.
  6. I have raised a wonderful daughter.
  7. Although my life hasn’t been particularly easy, I’ve never given up.
  8. I’m an optimist.
  9. I’m friendly.
  10. I have nice eyes :)

I’m not being big headed.  It is okay to appreciate yourself.  When you have love for yourself it’s so much easier to have love for others.  What are 10 great things about you?

Write a love letter to yourself

16 Jun

Why not write a love letter to yourself? :)

To all the parts of you, that need love.  All the parts of you, that perhaps you don’t really like too much.  Why not give yourself unconditional love?

This is not as selfish as it sounds.

For each one of us, that raises our own vibration, through loving and accepting ourselves unconditionally, we help to raise the vibration of our planet.

Someone that has self-love will naturally find it easy to love others.

So loving yourself becomes good for you and for everyone around you.

Shine your light

16 Jun

If you have seen the film Stardust, there is a scene in the film where the heroine gets close to the man she loves.  She’s a fallen star in the story.  Every times she is near him she starts glowing as the love she feels for him radiates out of her.

This is exactly how I feel when I’m near or think about the people I love.  Or when I look at the world through eyes of love.  It does feel like a big glow coming from my heart.

And it got me thinking about all the things that make us ‘shine’ and all the things that make us ‘fade’.

Things that make us ‘fade’ might be unkindness, criticism, lack of support.  Or having to do things we are told we ‘should’ do.

Things that make us ‘shine’ might be kindness, encouragement, support.  Or doing things we like, love and enjoy.

Maybe we are all ‘fallen stars’ and our mission is to find the things that make us shine because when we shine, we radiate love to ourselves and to others and that can’t be a bad thing.
